Q. Does acupuncture
hurt? Acupuncture
is performed with extremely thin, flexible stainless steel
needles. While acupuncture is often painless, you may feel
a slight tightness and heaviness during the treatment after
the needles are inserted. We will be sure to make the proper
adjustments to the needles during the treatment to avoid
as much discomfort as possible.
Q. Does acupuncture really work?
Yes. Today acupuncture
is practiced extensively worldwide and is being used more
frequently in America and Europe by patients and physicians
because of its effectiveness. For over 2,000 years, more
people have been successfully treated with acupuncture than
with all other health modalities combined. In Asia, including
China, Korea, and Japan, acupuncture is often used as primary
health care, and you can easily find many acupuncture hospitals
to receive treatment. a.q. clinic & spa provides the best
care for the patient, and we can help you get the most benefit
from all your treatments.
Q. How does acupuncture work?
After the acupuncturist
carefully consults with the patient to diagnose the disease,
she/he inserts thin needles into specific points on the
body to stimulate the body's immune response and help the
body to fight the disease pathogen or release any built-up
toxins. When the body's flow of energy is disturbed for
any reason, there is a disruption in health, resulting in
pain or illness. By stimulating the proper acupuncture points
along the affected organ pathway(s), the energy is regulated,
and health is restored.
Q. Is acupuncture safe? We
only use sterile, one-time use, disposable needles. You
may bleed or bruise a little after the treatment.
Q. Does herbal medicine really work,
and is it safe? Herbal
medicine is one main key for improving or maintaining your
health. As an "alternative medicine," it is now being researched
by scientists to determine the chemistry behind how it works.
Many studies already show that herbal medicine is a good
and effective source of alternative medicine. Furthermore,
herbal formulas are very safe. Just like certain vegetables
you eat every day, a certain amount of herbal intake is
beneficial and sometimes very necessary for your health.
It is very important that you get your herbal medicine through
a well-educated herbalist, such as the one at a.q. clinic
& spa, to sort out the formula that best fits your condition.
Q. What should I expect during treatment?
Most patients find the
treatment very relaxing and comfortable. During an acupuncture
treatment, they feel how easily and painlessly the needles
are inserted, and often even fall asleep. A patient may
feel a little sensation and pressure at the site of insertion.
Q. How long does a session last?
The average
treatment lasts about 40-60 minutes depending upon the problem
being treated. The first visit can take up to an hour and
a half. Follow-up visits can take about 40-60 minutes each,
depending on the services requested.
Q. How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments
needed depends on the patient's condition, the severity,
and the duration of the condition. Some conditions are improved
within 2-3 visits. Others will need more than 10 visits.
On average, with twice a week treatments, 4 weeks should
show at least some significant improvement.
Q. What if I am afraid of needles?
There are alternative
treatment modalities for those who are needle phobic. These
methods include acupressure, ear acupuncture with press
seeds, and herbal medicine.
Q. Are facial rejuvenation and weight
loss treatment only offered by package? And why? Yes,
these treatments are offered by package only. We do not
offer individual treatment sessions in both facial rejuvenation
and weight loss for the simple fact that one session will
not show long-lasting facelift or weight loss effects. For
better results, both treatments require consecutive multiple
sessions to build up the effectiveness in each treatment.
Visible results will be noticeable after 5 to 6 sessions.
Results have shown to last 3 to 5 years depending on the
patient¡¯s health. Maintenance treatment is strongly recommended.
The amount of maintenance needed will vary for each individual
and can require as infrequent as a couple times per year
to as frequent as once a month.
Q. What is Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation?
Acupuncture Facial
Rejuvenation is a non-surgical treatment to reduce the signs
of aging. You can receive the most natural looking results
from acupuncture facial rejuvenation. No frozen face when
you smile. No side effects. a.q. clinic & spa provides 2
main treatment modalities: acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Acupuncture needle insertion and herbal mask will increase
blood circulation, drain the toxins, break up the blockage
and stimulate collagen production, which will help to fill
out the fine lines and diminish the wrinkles on the face.
The treatments also give firmness to the skin for a healthy
and glowing complexion. Acupuncture and herbal mask helps
enhance your body energy to create healthy looking skin.
Results may vary for each individual patient depending on
various factors, such as genetics, lifestyle, sun exposure
etc., but the treatments can take 5 to 10 years off the
appearance of your skin. Studies show that acupuncture for
facial rejuvenation has a 90% success rate making improvements
to the skin, such as healthier skin tone, higher elasticity,
lymph drainage, tighter pores, increased collagen, reduced
acne break out and many more.
Q. Can I undergo acupuncture facial
rejuvenation if I have had Botox treatment? Yes,
acupuncture treatment does not interfere with Botox or any
other filler.
Q. Why choose acupuncture facial
rejuvenation over a Face Lift? The
acupuncture facial rejuvenation protocol has been used for
more than 2000 years. In Asian medicine it is believed that
the face is a mirror of internal health. Therefore, with
acupuncture facial rejuvenation, the focus is on treating
the internal part of the body (the organs) --- the root
cause of aging --- so that a healthier, younger external
appearance (the face) can follow. With a longer history
than cosmetic surgery, an "acupuncture facelift" is safer
and has minimal or no risk of side effects. Cosmetic surgery
may require a longer period time of recovery. With acupuncture
facial rejuvenation, you can walk out of the clinic and
return to your ordinary life right after treatment. Unlike
with cosmetic surgery, no one will notice what you have
done to your face or wonder about your strangely younger
looking skin because with acupuncture facial rejuvenation
the effects are more natural, gradual, and longer lasting,
and your whole body will experience a greatly improved sense
of well-being.
Q. During the weight loss program
can I eat anything I want? It
may depend on the herbal medicine we prescribe for your
treatment. At a.q. clinic & spa, we provide the best customized
herbal medicine for your weight loss after carefully diagnosing
your condition and body type. Some foods may have to be
avoided in order for certain herbs to have their maximum
effectiveness. We will be sure to give you the proper dietary
guidelines in writing with your herbal prescription.
Q. Can I take herbal pills or capsules
instead of herbal decoction? Yes,
but it is not as effective as decoction. The decoction type
of herbal medicine can be absorbed more effectively and
rapidly by the body. The pill type of herbal medicine may
take longer to show results. It is ultimately your choice,
but we recommend the decoction type for you to get the most
effective herbal treatment possible.
